Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Associate with 3–5 years of strong transactional experience in project financing , particularly in the energy sector (renewable and conventional). The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of financing structures, regulatory frameworks, and documentation specific to energy and infrastructure projects. This role provides an opportunity to work on high-value mandates involving lenders, developers, investors, and multilateral institutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transaction Execution
- Draft, review, and negotiate financing documents including :
- Loan agreements
- Security documents
- Term sheets
- Inter-creditor and subordination agreements
- Project development agreements (PPAs, EPC, O&M, SHA, SSA, concession agreements, etc.)
- Conduct legal due diligence on energy and infrastructure projects.
2. Regulatory & Compliance
Advise clients on regulatory and policy issues related to :Power generation (renewable & thermal)Transmission & distributionGreen hydrogen, battery storage, waste-to-energy, and other emerging sectorsEnsure compliance with RBI, electricity sector regulations, environmental and land acquisition laws as applicable.3. Client Management
Liaise with lenders, sponsors, financial advisors, consultants, and government authorities.Prepare client notes, opinions, reports, and updates on legal and regulatory developments.Manage timelines and deliverables proactively.4. Research & Advisory
Conduct research on developments in project finance, energy policy, and infrastructure sectors.Support partners in preparing proposals, pitches, and thought leadership.Required Qualifications & Skills
LL.B. from a recognised Indian law school ; LL.M. (optional but preferred).3–5 years of post-qualification experience at a reputed law firm or in-house legal team focusing on project financing / energy transactions.Strong understanding of :Renewable energy sector (solar, wind, hybrid, RE storage)Project finance structures (non-recourse, limited recourse, refinancing, ECB, NCDs, etc.)Security creation and enforcement under Indian lawsExcellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple transactions and work with cross-functional teams.Strong attention to detail and commercial acumen.
