Hardware Design Engineer (I&S)

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

As part of the R&D team, should be able to perform the following duties as assigned by Manager / Leads to support the team's goals but not limited to the following :

o Understanding the hardware design & requirements of the system / product

o Perform root causing of production and field issues / failures

o Understand the technical issues and drive the root cause analysis.

o Collaborate with engineering and production to provide solutions.

o Work on closures in line with commitments

o Implement mitigations for components obsolescence / supply chain issues :

o Provide timely solutions to prevent production stop situations

o Identify alternate components based on design requirements & component specification / datasheet comparisons

o Perform evaluation & testing as needed for alternate qualifications

o Perform necessary hands-on testing at circuit level / module level / product level to evaluate the hardware performance for identified HW design changes.

o Work on circuit simulations, schematics entry, BOM management and PCB layout reviews as needed.

o Support in design change implementations through Engineering Change Orders (ECO)

o Support in product safety & compliance testing and country registrations for products in production.

o Work efficiently with cross functional and production teams to deliver the assigned task / project with quality within the timelines.

o Production testing – understanding current production test methods and support for development of new fixtures / tools needed for identified improvements

o Do design and test documentation for the developed design.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE :

QUALIFICATION :

o BE / Btech / ME / Mtech in Electrical / Electronics / Biomedical engineering or equivalent

o 3 to 6 Years of experience in working with Hardware designs.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCY :

o Familiar with the concepts of Microcontrollers / Microprocessors operation and the hardware requirements for designing circuits using them.

o Understanding of power management systems – DCDC (Buck / Boost) and LDOs

o Knowledge of hardware design for communication protocols like UART, SPI, I2C, RS232, USB

o Proficient in component selection for circuit design

o Experience in using common lab equipment like DMMs, Oscilloscopes, power supplies, Signal generators

o Understanding of production process of PCB assembly & production testing

o Familiar with CAD tools like Altium or equivalent for circuit and PCB design

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

o Circuit simulation experience (LT spice or equivalent)

o Familiar or exposure in EMI / EMC testing

o LabVIEW knowledge is an advantage
