Position : Head Trader – Proprietary / High-Frequency Trading Desk

Location : Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Experience : Minimum 5 to 10 years in proprietary, institutional, or high-frequency trading

The firm is in its expansion phase and is building a cutting-edge trading desk focused on quantitative and high-frequency strategies across Indian equity and derivative markets. Our mission is to combine research-driven execution, technology-led infrastructure, and institutional-grade risk management to generate consistent alpha and long-term capital growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and manage the high-frequency trading desk, driving performance, technology, and strategy development.

2. Design, implement, and optimize algorithmic and low-latency execution systems.

3. Supervise multiple traders and quants, overseeing capital allocation, margin usage, and real-time risk controls.

4. Monitor and enhance latency performance, order routing, and exchange connectivity (NSE / BSE co-location environments).

5. Ensure compliance with SEBI regulations, sub-broker licensing, and firm-level governance.

6. Evaluate and refine strategies based on market microstructure, volatility, and tick-level data analytics.

7. Oversee risk metrics such as VaR, Sharpe ratio, and drawdown, ensuring discipline and accountability.

8. Collaborate with research, development, and infrastructure teams to integrate data feeds, APIs, and execution engines.

9. Drive the P&L and strategic roadmap of the trading desk, aligning growth targets with firm objectives.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Minimum 5 to 10 years of proven experience in high-frequency or algorithmic proprietary trading.
• Deep understanding of exchange connectivity, order management systems, and co-located infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Greek Algo, pair / ratio trading, and execution algorithms (VWAP, TWAP, POV, etc.).
• Strong command of risk management frameworks — margin allocation, exposure limits, capital efficiency, and performance metrics.
• Familiarity with Python, C++, or R for data-driven analytics and strategy testing preferred.
• Excellent leadership, analytical, and business acumen, with the ability to build and mentor a multi-strategy team.
• Based in Mumbai.
