Job Role - Lead Eletrical Design
Electrical Detailed Design & Engineering Leadership :
o Lead and manage the detailed design and engineering of all electrical infrastructure elements for data center projects, including utility interfaces, high- voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) distribution, low-voltage (LV) switchgear,
uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems (static, rotary, battery-based), generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), paralleling switchgear, power distribution units (PDUs), remote power panels (RPPs), busway systems,
grounding, lightning protection, and overall power distribution.
o Develop comprehensive electrical design packages, including detailed single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, panel schedules, load calculations, cable schedules, conduit and tray layouts, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
o Ensure all electrical designs meet stringent performance, reliability, efficiency (PUE targets), safety (Arc Flash, LOTO), and capacity requirements.
o Oversee the integration of electrical designs with mechanical, architectural, civil / structural, fire protection, and IT infrastructure elements.
Engineering Standards &; Best Practices :
o Develop, maintain, and enforce internal Electrical engineering standards, specifications, and design guidelines specific to data center power systems, ensuring consistency, reliability, and quality across all projects.
o Ensure strict adherence to relevant local (e.g., Indian Electricity Rules, IE Act, Central Electricity Authority regulations), national (e.g., National Electrical Code - NFPA 70), and international electrical codes, industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC,
Uptime Institute Tiers, TIA-942), and company best practices.
o Stay abreast of new electrical technologies, power electronics, energy storagesolutions, and industry trends applicable to data centers.
Technical Analysis & Studies :
o Lead and / or review critical electrical studies, including short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination studies, arc flash analysis, load flow analysis, harmonic analysis, and transient stability studies.
o Utilize specialized electrical engineering software (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools, DIALux for lighting) for design, analysis, and validation.
Technical Review & Quality Assurance :
o Conduct rigorous technical reviews of internal and external (A / E firm) Electrical design deliverables, calculations, and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, constructability, and compliance with all applicable standards.
o Lead design review meetings with internal stakeholders (e.g., Core Engineering, Project Management, Operations, BMS / Automation) and external consultants.
o Implement quality control processes for Electrical designs to minimize errors, RFIs (Request for Information) during construction, and change orders.
Collaboration & Coordination :
o Collaborate extensively with Mechanical, CSA, BMS / Automation, IT Infrastructure, and other Core Engineering Leads to ensure seamless integration and coordination of all building systems within the electrical framework.
o Manage and coordinate the efforts of external Electrical Engineering consultants, ensuring their deliverables meet project requirements and company standards.
o Provide expert Electrical technical support and guidance to Project Management, Construction, Commissioning, and Operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Feasibility Studies & Value Engineering :
o Participate in conceptual design studies, site selection analyses, and feasibility assessments from an electrical perspective.
o Lead or contribute to value engineering initiatives to optimize electrical designs for cost-effectiveness, schedule efficiency, modularity, and long-term maintainability without compromising reliability or safety.
Permitting & Regulatory Support :
o Provide necessary Electrical documentation, calculations, and technical support for obtaining local electrical permits, utility approvals, and other regulatory clearances in India.
o Liaise with local electricity boards / distribution companies (e.g., MSEDCL, TPDDL, BESCOM, etc.) for grid connectivity and power supply arrangements.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer :
o Ensure meticulous documentation of all Electrical design decisions, calculations, study reports, deviations, and justifications.
o Contribute to lessons learned sessions post-project completion to drive continuous improvement in Electrical design processes and standards.
