US Tax Professional - 990

The Senior Associate / Assistant Manager – Form 990 will be responsible for managing compliance engagements for U.S. tax-exempt organizations, reviewing tax returns, leading client communications, and mentoring junior associates. The role requires strong technical knowledge of IRS Form 990 , Form 990-PF , and Form 990-T , along with experience in handling large data sets and coordinating across teams to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality deliverables.

Key Responsibilities :

• Review and prepare Form 990, 990-EZ, 990-PF, and 990-T for U.S. tax-exempt organizations.
• Manage end-to-end compliance engagements , including data collection, analysis, tax adjustments, and final review.
• Ensure accurate reporting of revenue, contributions, grants, functional expenses, and investments .
• Review unrelated business income (UBI) calculations and supporting schedules .
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior team members on 990 compliance and reporting standards.
• Conduct research on exempt organization tax issues , including filing requirements, UBIT, lobbying, and governance.
• Review state compliance filings and ensure adherence to multi-jurisdictional filing deadlines.
• Maintain direct communication with clients and U.S. counterparts to resolve queries and review deliverables.
• Identify process improvements and assist in implementing automation tools and best practices to improve efficiency.
• Support ad hoc advisory projects related to exempt organizations as needed.
