We are seeking a skilled and proactive Design Engineer to join our CES R&D group, focusing on product sustenance activities within mechanical design and development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing various products, managing engineering changes, and ensuring project goals related to time, cost, and quality are achieved. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in CAD software, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Purpose of Position :
- Carry out product sustenance activities for the CES R&D group.
Roles and Responsibilities :
Responsible for the designing of products such as connectors, panels, enclosures, patch cords, wall plates, I / O cables, cable managers, wall plate modules, etc.Execute various engineering functions including Engineering Change Management, Customer drawing creation, Migration of CAD data to PDM, Legacy conversion of 2D data to 3D, Engineering and product specification creation, and controlling of engineering documents.Prepare schedules for projects and follow up with supply chain, manufacturing, quality, and product management teams to ensure that time, cost, and quality goals are achieved .Create DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) for any design changes or new designs.Attend Engineering calls and update the status of projects independently.Keep the CFT (Cross-Functional Team) informed about the status of projects and keep the same updated in SPS (Strategic Planning System).Provide assistance to other engineers with designs, drawings, and preparation of engineering documents .Participate in Lean activities wherever assigned, contributing to process improvement.Work towards continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.Ensure departmental compliance with all Molex policies & procedures .Support all company focal points as required.Undertake any other projects / work assigned by management.Possess knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) .Demonstrate experience in Risk Mitigation .Responsible for project delegation, allocation, monitoring, and execution .Perform quality checks on designs for errors, defects, etc.Act as a problem solver , effectively addressing design and engineering challenges.Must share technical trainings with teams whenever required based on their knowledge.Leadership Qualities :
Adept in Conflict Management .Knowledge on Appraisals for reportees is beneficial.Experience in Crisis Management .Qualification :
Diploma (Mechanical, Industrial, Production, Tool & Die making) .Work Experience & Skills :
Experience in New Product Design & Development .Proficiency in Engineering Change Management .Familiarity with PDM (Product Data Management), CAD (Computer-Aided Design) , and knowledge of Analysis software .Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and its application.Hands-on experience or knowledge of DFMEA .Practical experience with design for Manufacturing in injection molds, press tools, and different manufacturing processes.Good analytical skills .Good communication & presentation skills .Strong learning skills , capable of acquiring new knowledge rapidly.Good understanding of reading Drawings .Experience in Project Management .Hands-on experience with Plastics and Sheetmetals .Better than average written and spoken communication skills .Proficiency in CAD Software like UG (for 3D Modeling, drafting & Sheetmetal) and OSDM (preferable).Experience in Tolerance Analysis .Skills Required
