Job Purpose :
To lead and manage all activities related to obtaining statutory environmental clearances for construction projects, ensuring full compliance with central, state, and local regulatory frameworks. The role involves coordination with government authorities, consultants, internal teams, and external stakeholders to secure approvals in a timely and compliant manner.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Regulatory Compliance & Approvals
- Manage end-to-end process for obtaining Environmental Clearances (EC) and Consent to Establish / Operate (CTE / CTO) from relevant authorities.
- Ensure compliance with MOEFCC, CPCB, SPCB, SEIAA, SEAC, and other regulatory bodies.
- Prepare, review, and submit documents, applications, and reports required for various environmental approvals.
- Maintain updated knowledge of environmental regulations, amendments, and compliance requirements.
2. Coordination with Authorities & Consultants
Liaise with environmental consultants for preparation of EIA / EMP reports, impact assessments, and compliance documentation.Coordinate with government authorities for site visits, inspections, hearings, and technical clarifications.Represent the company during meetings, hearings, and project presentations for environmental approvals.3. Project Monitoring & Assessment
Conduct regular environmental compliance audits at project sites.Monitor environmental parameters such as air, water, noise, and waste management to ensure adherence to norms.Prepare periodic compliance reports as required by regulatory authorities.4. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of all submissions, approvals, renewals, and compliance reports.Prepare monthly / quarterly updates for management on the status of pending and approved clearances.Ensure timely renewal of environmental permissions and licenses.5. Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with project, design, legal, and safety teams to integrate environmental requirements into project planning.Provide guidance to project teams on environmental norms, mitigation measures, and best practices.6. Sustainability & Best Practices
Recommend and implement environment-friendly construction practices.Monitor waste management, water conservation, and pollution-control measures at sites.Support company CSR and sustainability initiatives related to environment protection.Qualifications & Experience :
Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.10 plus years of experience in handling environmental clearances, preferably in the construction / infrastructure industry.Good understanding of EIA Notification, Environmental Protection Act, and relevant environmental regulations.Experience in dealing with SEIAA / SEAC, CPCB / SPCB, and municipal authorities.Key Skills :
Strong knowledge of environmental laws and clearance processes.Excellent communication and coordination skills.Ability to prepare technical reports and compliance documentation.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Proficiency in MS Office and environmental monitoring tools.
