Team Lead – Crude Indifference is responsible for developing and maintaining the most optimal crude and non-crude feedstock strategy for the refinery. This includes maximizing crude-added value (CAV), evaluating term crude agreements, ensuring timely crude arrivals aligned with blend feasibility, and maintaining flexibility through reshuffling scenarios based on market and operational dynamics.
Key Responsibilities
Crude Optimization & Strategy
- Lead the evaluation of the optimal crude and non-crude feedstock mix for the refinery.
- Continuously evaluate and select crudes with the highest Crude-Added Value (CAV).
- Re-optimize and adjust the crude basket in response to changing market and operational conditions.
Term Crude Study & Long-Term Planning
Conduct detailed term crude studies to assess the economic and operational impact of long-term crude supply agreements.Recommend term crude contracts that balance cost efficiency, supply security, and refinery optimization.Monitor performance of term crude agreements and adjust strategy based on market dynamics and refinery economics.Crude Reshuffling Scenarios (Post M-Month Purchase)
Evaluate reshuffling scenarios after completion of M-month crude purchases to ensure continued optimization.Analyse market shifts, operational constraints, and LP model outputs to determine if crude basket adjustments are required.Provide recommendations for reshuffling to maintain profitability and operational robustness.Crude Arrival Sequencing & Exception Management
Ensure timely arrival of crudes as per blend feasibility and refinery operational requirements.Re-align crude sequencing in case of delays or disruptions to maintain blend integrity and minimize operational risk.Coordinate with Technical team for exception approvals when deviations from planned sequencing are necessary.Market & Operational Analysis
Test and validate crude selections under varying market scenarios and operational constraints.Assess robustness of crude choices to ensure resilience against volatility.Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Challenge and guide the crude trading desk to achieve the most optimal crude diet for the business.Work closely with refinery teams to secure approval for new crudes in the system.Technical Expertise
Prepare crude and feedstock assays based on cargo qualities and supplier information using AVEVA Spiral tool for accurate LP evaluation and blend planning.Apply deep knowledge of crude assays and their evolving qualities to judge long-term impact on optimization.Education
