Job Description : Engineering Tech Lead

Role Overview

The software engineering technology consultant helps clients modernize and optimize their software development practices, tools, and architectures. This role blends deep technical software expertise with consulting skills to deliver scalable solutions, improve engineering efficiency, and guide clients through modern development approaches such as cloud native design, DevOps, CI / CD automation and AI based development.

Key Responsibilities

Provide Level 3 support for engineering COTS applications (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Siemens Teamcenter, ANSYS, SCADA platforms, MES, ERP modules, etc.).
Troubleshoot advanced application, integration, system, and database-related issues affecting engineering workflows.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring incidents and deliver long-term corrective actions.
Work with software vendors for escalations, bug fixes, patches, and version upgrades.

Execute and validate patch deployment, updates, migrations , and performance tuning.

Support integrations between COTS applications and engineering systems (e.g., ERP, MES, PLC systems, design automation tools).

Analyze engineering data workflows, licensing issues, CAD file management, and PLM configurations.

Maintain detailed documentation , configuration standards, and support playbooks.

Ensure system reliability through health checks, monitoring, and preventive maintenance .

Collaborate with engineering, operations, IT infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams.

Ensure compliance with change management, ITIL, and engineering standards .

Asses client software architecture codebases, development workflows and tool chains

Identify gaps in performance, scalability, security, or process efficiency

conduct technical audits, system assessments and modernization feasibility studies

Improve engineering team productivity through best practices and automation

Project & Stakeholder management :

Lead technical projects from scoping through delivery, prepare project timelines, roadmaps and status updates

Collaborate with client engineering , product, cloud, and security teams to ensure successful outcomes

Client enablement & technical training

Provide expert level guidance, trouble shooting and support across software engineering domains

deliver workshops and training on technologies such as cloud services, Devops,modern programming frameworks, and secure coding practices

Produce documentation design artifacts, and technical recommendations

Stay current with emerging technologies (AI / ML tools, containerization, serverless modern frameworks)

Skills & Competencies :

Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.)

Knowledge of Oil & Gas industry , mechanical, or engineering principles

Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science with Oil & Gas industry (Industrial) experience.

15–20+ years of experience in software with Mechanical engineering background (good to have).

Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify data for non-technical users.

Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to data accuracy and governance.

Ability to manage complex reporting landscapes with numerous data sources.

Experience in engineering, construction, energy, utilities, or asset-intensive industries is a plus.
