Role Overview

As a Lead Backend Engineer, you’ll be responsible for rewriting and modernizing our backend APIs using Java Spring Boot and microservice architecture. You’ll work in a fast-paced, product-driven environment, focusing on latency optimization, query performance, scalable architecture, and distributed caching strategies.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect, develop, and optimize high-performance microservices in Java / Spring Boot.
  • Reduce API latency and improve system throughput for high-volume trading workloads.
  • Design and fine-tune complex SQL queries; optimize database performance.
  • Implement distributed caching, async messaging, and resilient system design.
  • Collaborate closely with product and frontend teams to deliver business-critical APIs.
  • Ensure stability, clarity, and order in fast-moving projects.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers / interns as required.
  • Optionally leverage AI-assisted code generation and test automation to accelerate delivery.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of backend development experience using Java / Spring Boot.
  • Strong grasp of microservice architecture, REST APIs, WebSocket, SQL optimization and scalability patterns.
  • Experience with Redis, Kafka, MSSQL (or any other DB like Postgres, MySQL), profiling tools, and performance tuning.
  • Exposure to cloud-native (Kubernetes, Docker) environments preferred (especially on MS Azure).
  • Startup mindset — thrives in fast execution cycles, ambiguity, and evolving requirements.
  • Bonus : Familiarity with AI-driven dev / test tools (Claude Code, Cursor etc.)
