We are seeking an experienced, strategic Senior Data Scientist to lead the vision and execution for our core discovery platforms.

Operating at the A1 band, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and optimizing high-impact ML models for Search and Recommendations, directly improving product discovery, personalization, and overall user engagement across the platform.

This role requires proven technical mastery combined with the ability to lead and mentor teams.

Key Responsibilities & Strategic Deliverables :

1. Technical Leadership & Mentorship :

Team Leadership : Lead, mentor, and guide a team of data scientists and engineers, setting technical direction, reviewing model architectures, and fostering a culture of rigorous scientific experimentation.
Project Ownership : Own the end-to-end delivery of complex ML projects within the Search and Recommendations domains, ensuring timely execution and measurable business impact.
Best Practices : Define and evangelize best practices for the entire machine learning lifecycle, from model design and experimentation to production deployment and monitoring.

Advanced Model Development & Optimization :

Core Algorithm Design : Design, prototype, and implement cutting-edge ML models for search ranking, personalization, collaborative filtering, and sequential recommendation systems.

Impact Driving : Continuously optimize existing algorithms to improve core business KPIs, such as click-through rate (CTR), conversion, and user session length.

Evaluation Rigor : Define the standard for model evaluation and A / B testing methodologies, ensuring statistical significance and reliable measurement of feature impact on user behavior.

Cross-Functional Strategy :

Product Partnership : Act as the primary technical partner to Product Managers and Engineering Leaders, translating complex business goals (e.g., increasing discoverability) into tangible, actionable ML roadmaps.

Deployment & Scalability : Collaborate with MLOps / Engineering teams to ensure models are deployed in a scalable, low-latency production environment, leveraging modern cloud tools.

Required Skills & Technical Expertise :

Experience (Mandatory) : 8+ years of progressive experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or Applied Science.

Domain Expertise : Deep expertise and a proven track record in developing and optimizing search ranking, information retrieval, and large-scale recommendation algorithms.

Technical Proficiency : Expert proficiency in Python and major ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).

Deployment : Strong practical knowledge of ML model deployment and serving in a high-traffic environment, ideally utilizing GCP ML tools (Vertex AI, BigQuery, etc.

Leadership & Communication : Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills required to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders at the senior executive level
