Overview The Oracle ODS Technical Manager oversees the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of Oracle-based Operational Data Stores within an organization. This role ensures seamless data integration from multiple source systems, high data quality, strong governance, and reliable operational reporting. The manager leads a team of developers, data engineers, and analysts while collaborating with business and IT stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
1. ODS Architecture & Solution Design Design and maintain Oracle ODS architecture aligned with enterprise data strategy. Define ODS schemas, data models, transformation rules, and integration patterns. Establish standards for data ingestion, transformation, cleansing, and enrichment. Ensure the ODS supports real-time or near-real-time data requirements.
2. Technical Leadership Lead and mentor technical teams (developers, ETL engineers, DBAs). Review and optimize SQL, PL / SQL, ODI / ETL code, and ODS workflows. Oversee performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning.
3. Data Integration & ETL Management Manage data integration using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), Oracle GoldenGate, or other ETL / ELT tools. Ensure efficient data extraction from ERP, CRM, legacy, and external systems. Define and enforce standards for ETL monitoring, error handling, and recovery.
4. Governance, Quality & Security Implement data governance policies for ODS assets. Ensure data quality checks, lineage documentation, and metadata management. Collaborate with security teams to enforce compliance with data privacy and access control policies.
5. Stakeholder & Project Management Work with business stakeholders to define requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Manage project timelines, deliverables, risks, and resource planning. Act as the technical authority during audits, architecture reviews, and system upgrades.
6. Operations & Support Oversee ODS production support, issue resolution, and root-cause analysis. Coordinate system maintenance, patching, and version upgrades. Ensure high availability, backup / recovery strategies, and disaster recovery readiness. Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills Strong expertise in Oracle Database, SQL, PL / SQL, and performance tuning. Deep understanding of ODS design principles, operational reporting, and data modeling. Experience with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) or equivalent ETL / ELT tools. Knowledge of Oracle GoldenGate, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), or similar technologies. Familiarity with data governance tools, metadata management, and data quality frameworks. Management Skills Strong leadership and team management experience. Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration. Ability to translate business needs into technical designs. Proven track record in delivering complex data.
