We’ve tried hiring writers who say they want to work in the YouTube space. But honestly? Many don’t have the mix of technical clarity, taste, and YouTube-native thinking this role needs.
This JD exists to help the right candidates recognize themselves.
This is a writing role for a YouTube channel in the SaaS / tech space.
If you haven’t worked with software, tools, or product-focused content before, you might struggle in this role.
What makes this different from a typical content writing job?
Traditional writers think in paragraphs, brand guidelines, and clean grammar.
But YouTube requires something else entirely — you’re writing for spoken clarity, story flow, moment-to-moment audience attention, and the creator’s delivery style.
The same sentence that looks perfect on a blog can fall flat when spoken aloud. We’re looking for a writer who understands why.
If you’re the right fit, you can naturally :
Understand complex software or workflows and explain them simply
Predict how an audience will feel at each moment in a video
Think in scenes, not sentences
Understand why certain channels attract certain audiences
Read between the lines and see a creator’s intent behind the content
Turn technical ideas into clear, engaging YouTube scripts
Shape pacing, rhythm, and narrative flow to keep viewers watching
This is not entertainment writing.
This is not advertising writing.
This is technical storytelling for YouTube.
Huge bonus (almost a requirement) :
Experience writing for a SaaS, software, developer, engineering, or product-focused YouTube channel.
Not a fit if you :
Come mainly from advertising, lifestyle, or entertainment writing
Are uncomfortable understanding how software or tools work
Prefer abstract creative writing over structured explanation
Avoid research-heavy content
Have never written for spoken delivery
Want a job where you only write but don’t think about viewer psychology
If any of these resonate, you won’t enjoy this role — and that’s okay.
