JOB PURPOSE
Lead the design and development of next-generation solar lighting products (Solar Street Lights, High Masts, and Garden Luminaires).
In this role, the incumbent will own the entire product lifecycle —from component selection (PV, Battery, LED) and driver circuit design to thermal management and mass production. Will bridge the gap between electrical efficiency and mechanical durability, ensuring our products meet global standards (IEC / MNRE) and withstand harsh outdoor environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technology Exploration & Feasibility
- Lead the identification, exploration, and development of cutting-edge Solar lighting technologies and architectures.
- Drive proof-of-concept development for new lighting solutions, including advanced LED systems, smart controls, optics, Battery management, and materials.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and engineering teams to align technology development with market trends and customer needs.
- Own the technology roadmap for solar lighting developments and scout emerging technologies and academic research for potential integration.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and design experiments to validate novel concepts.
- Engage with external partners, universities, and technology consortia to enhance innovation capabilities.
- Prepare and present technical reports, patent filings, and investment cases for leadership review.
- Mentor junior engineers and build technical excellence within the team.
- Quest to Technology upgradation with habit of exploring new Patent and White papers.
Electronics & Hardware Design (The Core)
Optimize high-efficiency DC-DC LED driver circuits (Buck / Boost converters) with efficiency >95%.
Integrate PWM / MPPT charge controllers with Battery Management Systems (BMS) for LiFePO4 and Li-ion chemistries.Lead PCB layout and schematic capture using tools like Altium Designer or OrCAD , ensuring low EMI / EMC noise.Integrate IoT modules (LoRaWAN, Zigbee, GSM / GPRS) for remote monitoring and dimming controls (dusk-to-dawn logic, motion sensing).2. System Architecture & Optics
Calculate the "Energy Balance" to match PV Panel wattage, Battery capacity (Ah), and LED load to ensure required autonomy (backup days) during cloudy weatherSelect and simulate secondary optics (lenses) to achieve Type II / Type III light distribution patterns, minimizing light pollution and maximizing road uniformity.3. Thermal Management : Design heatsinks and enclosures to ensure LED junction temperature (Tj) remains within safe limits (Enclosure Design : Oversee mechanical design (SolidWorks / AutoCAD) to ensure IP65 / IP66 ingress protection and IK08 / IK10 impact resistance.5. Testing & Validation Electronics products

B Tech Electronics / Electrical with 10 Years of relevant experience, or M. Tech with 6 year of experience
