Biostatistician Career
This position is for a Biostatistician with strong statistical analysis and research skills.
A Biostatistician leads collaborations with clinical investigators to determine study design, contribute to protocol development, author statistical analysis plans, perform statistical analysis, make statistical inference, and write / present reports summarizing findings including publications in peer-reviewed journals. They manage statistical activities for a clinical study or platform of clinical studies.
- Supervise biostatisticians, associate biostatisticians, and programmers (all levels) and direct their work on clinical research studies.
- Provide expert consultation to projects across the organization on statistical methodology.
- Solve problems of complex statistical scope.
- Provide technical review of proposed statistical design for research studies across the organization.
- Lead the team on one or more study projects.
- Participate in process development and improvement across the organization.
- Presentation at conferences.
- Provide strategic, scientific, and statistical input to support clients' research projects.
- Develop study analysis plans and programs to perform analyses and display study data.
- Stay current with statistical and medical literature to ensure adoption of sound methodologies.
- Foster innovation in biostatistics that enhances current knowledge and practices.
- Ensure scientific integrity of research projects and accuracy of reported results.
- Perform sample size calculations and provide leadership in design of research projects.
- Review protocols and case report forms to meet objectives and maintain standards.
- Develop study assignment allocation schemas along with documentation.
- Lead methods and results sections of clinical study reports and scientific publications.
- Represent at regulatory meetings.
- Provide expertise in methodological advances internally and externally to improve methodologies.
- Participate in Standard Operating Procedures development and updating.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or related field.At least 4 years of experience in related field expected but not required.Experience with methodological research, publication, and / or presentation of work in statistical methods development.Demonstrated proficiency with statistical methods and applications in clinical research.Strong programming skills in software languages.Expertise in state-of-the-art data manipulation and statistical methodology.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Effective communication of complex concepts, written and oral.
