We are seeking to recruit an ambitious and dynamic Assistant Engineer - Bridges to join the ‘UK GCC Communities’ to work alongside our UK discipline.
The successful candidate will lead, develop and deliver projects through various stages of design from feasibility to planning / detailed design and onto construction.
Responsibilities
- Undertake assessment of existing bridges and preparing assessment reports having assessment / design experience in Steel Composite,
- Pretension / Posttension structures
- Carry out feasibility studies for strengthening and repair.
- Prepare new bridge design and strengthening design to UK standards ensuring compliance with appropriate design and health and safety standards and WSP WoW procedures
- Carry out design and assessment checks (Cat II or Cat III) under the guidance of a Senior or Principal Engineer
- Prepare or assist others in compiling drawings, specifications, reports and correspondence
within given deadlines including checking compliance with the project brief
Follow QA, document control, archiving & CDM guidelines on all workEnsure the correct implementation of document control and QA processes are followed forissue and filing / archiving of all work carried outProduce work to specified WSP design standards, suggest revisions to standards asappropriate ensure all relevant standards and guides are used in accordance with UK Design standards and WSP QA processes (WoW)
Ensure compliance with AIP or other project requirementsUse WSP calculation templates and ensure calculation sheets comply with WSP standardsUse WSP Technical library and Information systems to assist design workEnsure only latest version (unless specifically required by AIP) of British and EuropeanStandards are used
Continually strive to develop and increase skills in MIDAS, LUSAS, Superstress, SAM, ARCHIEand other computer aided design software
