The New Indian Express Group is publishing Newspapers and Periodicals in the States of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Orissa and the Union Territories of Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Yanam and Lakshadweep. It brings out its publication of newspapers and periodicals from 33 Centers. It also has Marketing Offices in Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi.
The Company's publications include English Dailies viz. The New Indian Express and The Morning Standard and Sunday editions The Sunday Express and The Sunday Standard and weekly edition Indulge. The Morning Standard and The Sunday Standard are published in New Delhi. The company also brings out Tamil daily Dinamani and Samakalika Malayalam Varika, a weekly magazine in Malayalam.

Job Title: Research Editor
Location: Chennai
Department: Library and Research
Experience: 1 - 2 Years
Job Profile:
- Collaborate with reporters and editors to provide thorough research and background information for news stories and long-form journalism.
- Fact-check all content for accuracy, relevance, and reliability.
- Conduct data analysis and compile relevant statistics, reports, and research materials to support editorial projects.
- Manage and maintain research databases, ensuring they are regularly updated and accessible to the editorial team.
- Develop story ideas and assist in planning special reports based on extensive research and trends in the news industry.
- Liaise with external experts, think tanks and institutions to gather insights and in-depth information on specific topics.
- Stay informed on current events, media trends, and important societal issues to provide context for ongoing editorial coverage.
- Ensure adherence to journalistic standards of accuracy, balance, and integrity in all content.
- Create Backgrounders & Chronology of regional, national & international
- events.
- Indexing (assigning keywords) News Articles & Writing captions for Photographs.
- To browse in-house databases and the Internet to provide statistical data for
- Reporters and Editors.
Desired Profile:
- Proactive, Efficient individual with an interest in working on the research team.
- Proven ability to conduct in-depth research and analyze complex information across a variety of subjects.
- Excellent attention to detail, with a commitment to journalistic integrity and accuracy.
- Strong understanding of news cycles, current events, and media landscape.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and research databases.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A degree in journalism, communications, or a related field is preferred.
- Good knowledge of current affairs and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Qualification:
The candidate should have a Master's in Journalism / Mass Communication / English Literature / Political Science with Strong English-language skills.
Experience:
Freshers or 1-2 years
of experience in the Newspapers or Television industries
