About Us

Basic Healthcare Services (BHS) is a not-for-profit organization with a vision of a world where marginalized and vulnerable communities lead a healthy life with dignity. The organization runs a network of AMRIT Clinics that provide high-quality and low-cost primary health care to rural and tribal communities in south Rajasthan. Six such clinics serve a population of nearly 100,000, approximately 90% of which is tribal. BHS also runs phulwaris (daycare centres for children under 5) that provide a safe environment, nutritious food, and learning and play to children from tribal communities; 16 phulwaris enroll nearly 350 children. BHS is a leading voice on primary healthcare in India and is also partnering in two ICMR led implementation research studies, aimed at strengthening the public health systems.

Rural communities have a huge need for physiotherapy services on account of their work in farms and other occupations that predispose them to musculoskeletal stress, strain and injuries. Indoor air pollution and some occupations also predispose them to occupational lung diseases, which require respiratory physiotherapy. Rural areas however have limited access to physiotherapy services, and to respond to this need BHS has started integrating physiotherapy and rehabilitation services across its’ AMRIT Clinics and communities.

Qualifications & Experience :

  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy with a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.
  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Master of Physiotherapy or Master of Public Health- fresh graduates.

Physiotherapist – AMRIT Clinic will have the following responsibilities :

  • Assess and treat patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory, and age-related conditions.
  • Follow-up on care plans regularly and ensure continuity of care, especially for those with chronic or long-term needs.
  • Provide physiotherapy in outpatient clinics, home visits, and field camps.
  • Collaborate with primary care providers, nurses, and community health workers to ensure holistic care.
  • Support the development of manuals, IEC materials, and community rehab toolkits.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, analyse data, and prepare reports.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to publish findings and share learning in external forms.

    She / he will be part of a multi-disciplinary team working in the field of primary healthcare and nutrition for vulnerable communities living in remote, rural regions. She / he will gain in-depth understanding of integrating PT in primary healthcare, develop Primary care physiotherapy skills with focus on providing comprehensive, patient centric care, and of working with diverse teams, providing high-quality primary PT, healthcare, and nutrition services to underserved and remote communities, and the social determinants of health. She / he will be mentored by senior physiotherapists, colleagues at BHS and at other partner organizations; and will have structured opportunities for learning and advancement.
