Job descriptionThe mainframe database administrator (DBA) will be part of a mainframe modernization and optimization assessment team.DBA will provide critical support to understand their current database landscape for mainframe applications and future needs.Works with customer database personnel to understand their current database platform and future needs.Assess current mainframe IMS / DB2 / IDMS database administration, supporting critical business initiatives, using the full suite of BMC and IBM tools and utilities.DB2 / IMS / IDMS Database administration experience, experience with mission-critical, OLTP applications preferred, including performance tuning, migrations, backup, and recovery methods.Minimum 5-7 Years experience administering Db2 / IMS / IDMS for z / O.S. databases in an enterprise environmentHands-on expertise in Database design, build, change, and implementation.Familiarity with IMS access via CICS, M.Q. and open system ODBC, JDBC drivers.Experience with BMC DB2 toolsWorking experience with Batch / Online IDMS programs.Experience in Teradata on z / O.S.Work experience on IDAA - IBM Db2 Analytics AcceleratorWork experience in performing IDMS DBA management functionsExperience in converting non-relational D.B. like VSAM, IMS, IDMS to relational D.B. like Db2, Oracle, etc.DB2 / IDMS / IMS Database administration experience, experience with mission-critical, OLTP applications preferred, including performance tuning, backup, and recovery methods.Experience with IBM and BMC IMS utilitiesExperience of working with big COBOL programs that read and update large mainframe IDMS databases.Database performance monitoring and recommendations for improvement.Experience supporting a multi-terabyte environment.Experience supporting high throughput OLTP applications.Experience supporting applications within a DB2 data sharing environmentWorks with customer database personnel to understand their current database platform and future needsExperience with cross-platform data movement and integration.Application database backups, monitoring, recovery, utilities, and security.Provide performance, capacity, and utilization reporting
