Speech Therapist

Primary Responsibilities

• Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
• Treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
• Provide training and education to family / caregivers and others.
• Work collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines.
• Combining traditional therapies with new and innovative techniques.
• Using standardized assessments to monitor progress at regular intervals and review treatment plans where necessary.
• Motivating patients, especially when progress is slow, to stick to the treatment plan and provide evidence when they seem despondent.
• Maintaining patient databases and meticulously updating medical records.
• Establishing networks with other speech-language pathologists and healthcare professionals by attending regular conferences and professional events.
• Staying abreast of developments in speech-language pathology and in the broader medical field.
• Teach preventive strategies to family members on choking and aspiration
