About the Role :

Were looking for a seasoned Mainframe Developer with strong CICS / COBOL / JCL / DB2 / VSAM expertise and hands-on experience in application modernization - e.g., API enablement (z / OS Connect EE), microservices integration, DevOps CI / CD, and cloud / hybrid patterns. Youll work across the full SDLC, modernize legacy CICS transactions, improve reliability and performance, and enable integration with distributed ecosystems while maintaining enterprise-grade security and resilience on z / OS.

Key Responsibilities :

• Design & Development (Mainframe Core) - Design, develop, and enhance COBOL / PL / I programs, CICS transactions, BMS maps, JCL, and DB2 / VSAM data structures.
• Implement robust inter-program communication (COMMAREA, channels & containers), pseudo-conversational processing, and transaction flows.
• Build and maintain batch jobs, schedules, and dependencies (e.g., Control-M / TWS).
• Modernization & Integration - Modernize CICS apps via API enablement using z / OS Connect EE, REST / SOAP services, IBM MQ, and event-driven messaging.
• Refactor monolith programs into modular services; participate in re-architecting for microservices-aligned design where feasible.
• Integrate with distributed / cloud apps (e.g., Java / .NET, Node.js, Python services) and apply data virtualization or replication patterns.
• Contribute to replatforming / rehosting assessments (e.g., Micro Focus, containerization feasibility studies), weighing performance, risk, and TCO.
• Quality Engineering & Performance - Write unit / integration tests, test stubs / drivers; ensure functional and non-functional coverage.
• Diagnose and resolve abends; perform dump analysis using IPCS, Fault Analyzer, Debug Tool, File Manager.
• Tune CICS regions (e.g., threading, storage, file I / O, DB2 SQL, VSAM buffering); use SMF / RMF / Omegamon or equivalent monitoring.
• Optimize SQL (indexing, access paths, EXPLAIN), transaction response times, and batch SLAs.
• DevOps, Tooling & Automation - Use Endevor / ISPW / ChangeMan (or equivalent) for SCM; Git / Zowe / VS Code for modern developer workflows.
• Implement / maintain CI / CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, UrbanCode Deploy, ISPW pipelines), automated build / deploy, static analysis

(e.g., Enterprise Analyzer).
