Appian Developer - Lead

We are looking for a seasoned

Appian Lead

to design, lead, and deliver enterprise-grade business process management solutions using the

Appian BPM platform . The ideal candidate will play a key role in driving solution architecture, technical leadership, sprint planning, and mentoring of Appian developers.

This role requires deep Appian expertise, strong hands-on development skills, and proven experience leading Agile teams through the full software development lifecycle — from design and development to deployment and post-production support.

Key Responsibilities :

Technical Leadership & Architecture

Lead the

design, development, and implementation

of complex Appian BPM applications.

Define and enforce

Appian best practices , coding standards, and architecture patterns.

Conduct

solution design reviews

and provide guidance on scalability, reusability, and performance optimization.

Collaborate with enterprise architects to integrate Appian applications with external systems via

REST APIs ,

SOAP ,

databases , and

third-party services .

Review and validate all Appian objects, ensuring

maintainable, secure, and efficient

code.

Oversee version control, deployment pipelines, and environment management (Dev, Test, UAT, Prod).

Agile Delivery & Team Management

Lead an Agile delivery team through

sprint planning, grooming, estimation, demos, and retrospectives .

Manage and prioritize the product backlog in collaboration with product owners and business analysts.

Guide developers in story refinement, acceptance criteria definition, and technical implementation.

Coordinate with

QA, DevOps, and production support

teams to ensure quality and timely delivery.

Participate in

daily standups ,

cross-functional meetings , and

client interactions

to drive project success.

Development & Quality Assurance

Design and develop advanced

SAIL interfaces ,

process models ,

records ,

reports , and

custom integrations .

Conduct

code reviews ,

peer mentoring , and ensure adherence to CI / CD and SDLC processes.

Support QA and UAT efforts through regression testing, debugging, and root cause analysis.

Continuously identify opportunities for

process optimization, performance improvement , and

bug resolution .

Outcomes & Deliverables

High-quality, scalable Appian applications delivered across multiple sprints.

Fully documented

application architecture ,

deployment guides , and

support runbooks .

Well-maintained

Agile artifacts

in JIRA or equivalent tools.

Improved

code quality , reduced defects, and consistent adherence to Appian best practices.

Continuous

mentorship and upskilling

of junior Appian developers.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

7–12 years

of total IT experience with

5+ years

in Appian BPM development and design.

Strong expertise in

Appian 21.x or later , including SAIL, Process Modeler, Records, Reports, and Integrations.

In-depth understanding of

Appian architecture ,

object design ,

environment setup , and

deployment pipelines .

Proficiency in

REST / SOAP integrations ,

RDBMS (SQL / PL-SQL) , and

Appian plug-ins .

Hands-on experience with

Appian DevOps

tools (Jenkins, Git, Automated Deployment Manager).

Exposure to

Agile / Scrum

methodologies and tools such as

JIRA

or

Azure DevOps .

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and fix complex issues quickly.

Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of managing

onshore / offshore teams .

Desired Skills :

Appian Certified Senior Developer

or

Appian Certified Lead Developer .

Experience integrating Appian with

enterprise systems

like Salesforce, SAP, or ServiceNow.

Knowledge of

CI / CD pipelines ,

Appian Cloud , and

containerized deployments

(Docker, Kubernetes).

Exposure to

AWS

or

Azure

environments.

Familiarity with

ITIL

and

change management

processes.
