We're looking for a Senior Solar Design Engineer who can lead large-scale design initiatives with technical depth, precision, and leadership excellence.
Role Overview
As a Senior Solar Design Engineer, you will be responsible for end-to-end solar system design across portfolios ranging from 700 MW to 1 GW. You'll lead design engineering processes from concept to as-built stages—ensuring compliance, efficiency, and innovation in every detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design and engineering for utility-scale PV plants and complex C&I deployments, ensuring quality and compliance across all deliverables.
- Execute and review PVsyst-based energy yield assessments, AC / DC sizing, SLDs, earthing and protection design, cable sizing, and IFC / as-built documentation.
- Ensure full compliance with IEC / IS / IEEE standards, CEIG / CEA, and DISCOM interconnection requirements.
- Interface with multi-substation environments (AIS / GIS) and coordinate grid integration across engineering disciplines.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with civil, structural, procurement, and commissioning teams to close RFIs, ensure timely approvals, and resolve technical punch lists.
- Mentor and guide mid-level and junior engineers, standardizing design templates, QA / QC processes, and best practices.
- Drive value engineering initiatives to improve Performance Ratio (PR) and Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) while maintaining full code and safety compliance.
- Manage stakeholder interactions with EPCs, OEMs, DISCOMs, and regulatory bodies, ensuring first-time-right design approvals and on-time deliverables.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.Proven design leadership in projects cumulatively exceeding 700 MW – 1 GW.Advanced proficiency in PVsyst and AutoCAD (mandatory).Hands-on experience with ETAP, DigSilent, CDEGS, or CYMCAP (preferred).Strong understanding of grid codes, protection systems, and interconnection standards.Certifications from GSES, NIWE, or AutoCAD Electrical are desirable.Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.Why Join Saarthi AI?
