Job Description – BRE Developer
Role Overview :
The BRE developer professional will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimizing the Business Rule Engine (BRE) used in the personal loan journey. This role involves ensuring seamless rule execution, supporting credit policy implementation, and maintaining decision accuracy across the lending lifecycle — from application to disbursement.
Key Responsibilities :
1. BRE Management & Operations
- Manage daily operations of the BRE which includes different UW policies.
- Monitor rule executions, failure rates, and exception cases in real-time.
- Ensure that rule deployments, versioning, and rollback mechanisms are properly executed and documented.
- Support the implementation of new credit and operational rules in coordination with Product, Risk, and Tech teams.
2. Rule Implementation & Validation
Translate credit policy and product logic into executable BRE rules.Validate end-to-end logic before production deployment using UAT and A / B testing.Perform periodic audits to ensure rules are functioning as intended (eligibility, pricing, risk scoring, etc.).Work with Policy and Risk teams to calibrate decision parameters (e.G., bureau cut-offs, Digi variable cut-offs, model scorecard).3. Risk & Compliance Alignment
Collaborate with Risk and Compliance to ensure all decision rules adhere to regulatory and internal credit policies.Ensure audit trails, documentation, and version control for each rule change.Support internal / external audits with logs, configurations, and evidence of compliance.4. Performance Monitoring
Track KPIs like approval rates, rejection reasons, funnel tracking.Analyze trends and provide insights to improve funnel performance and reduce drop-offs or false declines.Generate dashboards / reports for stakeholders on rule effectiveness.5. Stakeholder Coordination
Work closely with Product Managers, Credit Policy, and Technology teams to ensure smooth rule execution.Act as first-line support for operational issues related to loan decisioning.Communicate rule change impacts and outcomes clearly to non-technical stakeholders.Required Skills & Qualifications :
Technical Skills
Experience in SQL and PythonBasic knowledge of decisioning logic — credit score, income estimation, bureau variables, digi variables, rule-based pricing, and fraud checks.Functional Skills
Understanding of digital lending workflows (bank statement parsing, bureau checks, etc.).Knowledge of unsecured personal loan products and underwriting parameters.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Attention to detail and process orientation.Experience
1–4 years of experience in digital lending operations, decision analytics, or BRE management.Experience with NBFCs, fintechs, or banks with automated lending systems preferred.
