Job Description / Responsibilities 1. Creative Direction & High Jewellery Design
Lead and create original high jewellery designs, focusing on
exceptional craftsmanship, rare gemstones, and sophisticated
aesthetics.
Translate design briefs and brand ethos into unique,
collectible jewellery pieces.
Conceptualise and illustrate detailed sketches by hand and
digitally (using tools like Procreate or Adobe).
Ensure all designs are aligned with the brand's creative
identity and values—timelessness, rarity, precision, and
elegance.
Research global design trends, historical references, and gem
innovations to continually evolve the creative direction.
Strategize and develop seasonal and capsule high jewellery
collections from ideation to final prototype.
Design signature pieces that push the boundaries of design
and highlight the brand's storytelling and material excellence.
Prepare curated capsule series for high jewellery events,
bespoke clients, and private exhibitions.
Directly handle bespoke design requests from VIP clients—
understand their preferences, lifestyle, and personal stories to
create heirloom-quality pieces.
Lead client-facing design consultations and presentations
when required, with a deep understanding of ultra-high-net-
worth expectations.
Collaborate closely with CAD team and artisans to translate
hand-drawn concepts into technically sound and
manufacturable designs.
Review and approve all CAD and 3D outputs, ensuring
accuracy of dimensions, stone settings, comfort, and
durability.
Troubleshoot and optimise structural complexities, especially
in high jewellery engineering.
Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of jewellery designers, CAD
modelers, and interns.
Assign design tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely
delivery of all design output.
Conduct regular feedback sessions, skill-building workshops,
and design reviews.
Collaborate with merchandising, sourcing, marketing, and
production departments for smooth execution of collections.
Work closely with gem sourcing teams to select rare and
exceptional stones for key pieces.
Liaise with the manufacturing team to oversee technical
feasibility, fabrication nuances, and finishing quality.
Serve as a guardian of the brand's design heritage and visual
identity.
Maintain a detailed archive of all original designs, sketches,
prototypes, and final pieces.
Ensure all creative work respects the exclusivity and rarity that
define the brand.
Inspect and evaluate the final products for aesthetic finesse,
proportion, symmetry, and visual balance.
Provide creative inputs during the stone setting and finishing
stages to maintain artistic integrity.
Identify and engage with master craftsmen, stone setters,
enamel artists, and specialty karigars for complex artisanal
requirements.
Ensure design concepts are communicated with precision to
ensure quality in execution.
Assist in the allocation of design and production budgets
related to high jewellery pieces.
Oversee design resource planning including reference
materials, prototyping tools, software upgrades, and artist
materials.
Oversee and maintain the master inventory of all finished
jewellery pieces, gemstone assets, prototypes, and sample
collections stored at the design studio.
Ensure meticulous documentation and tracking of all jewellery
assets—both creative and commercial—including tagging,
valuation records, certifications, and photography.
Manage the movement of jewellery pieces between
departments (design, production, marketing, boutique), and
ensure proper handover logs and approvals are maintained.
Collaborate with merchandising and sales teams to align stock
availability with seasonal collection launches, trunk shows,
and private viewings.
Conduct periodic stock audits and reconciliation in
coordination with accounts or finance, ensuring accurate
records of both in-use and archived assets.
Support internal merchandising decisions by providing
creative input on product assortment, pricing rationales, and
design lifecycle management.
Track the performance of key designs and collections to advise
on potential re-editions, re-interpretations, or repurposing of
unsold pieces.
Maintain secure storage and access control protocols for all
high-value pieces in the studio's possession, ensuring
compliance with brand standards and insurance
requirements.
Essential Skills Exceptional Hand-sketching And Design Development Ability
Strong aesthetic judgement, with a refined eye for luxury, detail, and
proportion
Advanced understanding of jewellery construction, engineering, and
finishing
Mastery of CAD tools (Rhino, Matrix, etc.) and Adobe Creative Suite
Deep understanding of gemstones, diamond cuts, and stone setting
techniques
Strong leadership, communication, and team mentoring skills
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple collections and
timelines
Client-focused mindset with strong interpersonal and storytelling skills
Absolute discretion, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity whe
Proven portfolio of original high jewellery creations
Prior experience working with ultra-high-end clients or heritage / luxury
brands preferred
