Job Description – Oracle Linux Engineer

About the Role :

Oracle Linux Engineer to lead our Oracle Linux 7 to 9 upgrade program and strengthen our Linux operations and automation capabilities. This role will focus on lifecycle management, infrastructure automation, and long-term stability of our Linux estate.

Key Responsibilities :

Drive the upgrade of Oracle Linux 7 to 9 across development, staging, and production.

Own end-to-end OS lifecycle management, patching, and compliance.

Automate provisioning, configuration, and upgrades using Terraform, Ansible, and scripting (Shell / Python).

Collaborate with application, database, and infrastructure teams to validate workloads on OL9.

Implement security hardening, kernel tuning, and system optimization.

Provide operational support, root cause analysis, and performance tuning.

Maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for Linux platforms.

Required Skills & Experience :

Strong expertise in Oracle Linux 7 / 8 / 9 administration and upgrades.

Proven experience with Terraform for IaaS provisioning and automation.

Hands-on with YUM / DNF, kernel upgrades, systemd, SELinux, firewalld, networking.

Proficiency in automation / scripting (Shell, Python, Ansible).

Experience with virtualization (VMware / KVM) and cloud (AWS / Azure / OCI).

Solid understanding of OS security hardening & compliance frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications :

Prior experience upgrading Oracle Linux in large-scale enterprise environments.

Exposure to Oracle DB, WebLogic, or enterprise middleware on Linux.

Linux certifications (Oracle OCA / OCP, RHCSA / RHCE).
