Sr. Design Engineer - Switchgears

Job descriptionPerform electrical calculations (short circuit, voltage drop, thermal rating) to validate design safety and performance. Support prototype testing, fault analysis, and design optimization. Work with QA to ensure design compliance with product certifications and quality standards. Collaboration & Documentation Coordinate with procurement, manufacturing, and project teams to resolve design-related issues. Provide technical support for customer queries and project execution. Maintain design records, BOMs, and version control for all projects. Mentor junior design engineers and CAD technicians. Suggest and implement design process improvements and automation. Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and emerging technologies. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline Certifications in electrical design or project management are a plus 6–12 years in design and development of electrical switchgear or panel boards Hands-on experience with CAD tools like AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar Strong knowledge of electrical switchgear components, standards (IEC, ANSI, IS) Proficiency in electrical design software and MS Office Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills Good communication and team collaboration skills Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
Key Responsibilities :
Switchgear Design & Development
- Lead detailed design and development of switchgear assemblies such as MCCs, control panels, motor starters, distribution boards, and protection systems.
- Prepare and review design documents, single line diagrams (SLDs), wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
- Select appropriate components (circuit breakers, relays, contactors, busbars, etc.) ensuring compliance with standards like IEC, ANSI, IS.
