Job description

Manager — LTL Freight Billing & Automation

Location : Remote (India)

Schedule : Full-time | Strong overlap with U.S. Eastern Time

Role Mission

Own outcomes for ARDEM’s LTL clients — from pre-sales solution design to steady-state delivery and account growth. You’ll build automation-driven, high-accuracy billing solutions that deliver measurable client value in accuracy, speed, and customer satisfaction.

What “Great” Looks Like

You’ve run LTL back-office / billing or logistics PMO operations for U.S. shippers, carriers, or 3PLs. You’re fluent in LTL exceptions and accessorials (reweigh / reclass, limited access, liftgate, blind shipments, appointments, etc.), can reconcile EDI 210 invoices, track via PRO, and improve first-pass yield using SMC³ (RateWare, CzarLite, CarrierConnect) and a modern TMS.

Key Impact Areas

1. Pre-Sales Solutioning

  • Partner with Sales as the operational SME to translate discovery into detailed future-state workflows, SLAs, FTE & automation models, and a pilot plan.
  • Align with “co-creation” style BPM delivery — domain-led, data-backed, and measurable.

2. Transition & Implementation

  • Stand up full LTL workflows : intake → validation → rating → exception handling → invoice audit / reconciliation → client reporting.
  • Lead onboarding and establish process controls for EDI 204, 210, 214, 990, 997 / 999 transactions.
  • 3. Delivery & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive KPI attainment and ongoing improvement in accuracy, cycle time, and exception reduction.
  • Build operational dashboards and playbooks that function as “the client’s billing department.”
  • 4. Client Success & Growth

  • Conduct QBRs to demonstrate cost-to-serve and value capture.
  • Identify upsell opportunities such as EDI 210 audit, accessorial charge analytics, carrier rate analysis, and OS&D workflows.
  • Must-Have Expertise

    LTL Domain Mastery

  • Deep understanding of accessorials & exceptions : appointments, limited access, liftgate, inside delivery, protect-from-freeze, blind shipments.
  • Knowledge of NMFC classification, density logic, and ClassIT+ 2025 updates.
  • Experience reconciling EDI 210 invoices, BOL / PRO tracking, and dispute handling.
  • Technical Tools

  • Hands-on with SMC³ (RateWare, CzarLite, CarrierConnect) and major TMS platforms (McLeod, MercuryGate, OTM, Blue Yonder, Manhattan).
  • Experience

  • 7+ years in freight / logistics (minimum 3 years in PM / Client Manager role).
  • Prior experience in BPO / Shared Services or carrier / 3PL operations is strongly preferred.
  • Executive-level English communication skills — confident in presenting to U.S. clients.
  • Nice-to-Haves

  • Work history with leading LTL carriers or 3PLs (ODFL, XPO, Estes, Saia, FedEx Freight, R+L, PITT OHIO).
  • Exposure to freight audit / payment processes.
  • Working knowledge of Python / SQL, RPA, and dashboard design.
  • KPIs You’ll Own

  • First-Pass Invoice Accuracy (FPY) : ≥ 98% on EDI 210 reconciliation.
  • Exception Rate : ↓ 30–50% in 90 days (reweigh / reclass / accessorial disputes).
  • Cycle Time : Continuous reduction; higher auto-rating hit rate via SMC³.
  • Client NPS : ≥ +40 | Account Growth : ≥ 10% YoY expansion.
  • SLA Attainment : Timely responses, backlog control, and exception aging targets met.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or Business (MBA preferred).
  • Proven leadership managing remote, client-facing teams for U.S. shippers / carriers.
  • Hands-on with EDI transaction sets (204 / 210 / 214 / 990 / 997-999) and SMC³ + major TMS.
  • Why ARDEM

Own outcomes, not tickets. You’ll collaborate with clients to design and scale next-generation LTL billing and automation processes — seeing your playbooks become industry standards across freight operations.
