ABAP Developer

Role : SAP ABAP Developer (S / 4HANA Cloud)

Contract : B2B / freelance

Duration : 3 months plus possible extension

Location : 100% remote from India

Purpose

Design and deliver upgrade-safe custom developments and services for S / 4HANA Cloud, leveraging modern ABAP principles, RAP, CDS, and Fiori elements while minimizing core modifications.

Key Responsibilities

Develop clean-core solutions using released APIs, CDS views, OData, and RAP BOs.

Create Fiori element apps with annotations; extend standard processes via BAdIs / enhancement spots.

Refactor legacy code to HANA-optimized patterns and wrap older logic with released APIs.

Apply testing, static code checks, and performance tuning (ABAP Unit, ATC, SAT / ST12, SQL Monitor).

Manage transports / releases (CTS+ / gCTS) and contribute to CI / CD pipelines.

Support integrations (IDocs, BAPIs, APIs, OData) and data migration / extraction (ODP, CDS).

Prepare technical documentation and provide post go-live support.

Required Skills

5-8 years of ABAP experience, including S / 4HANA.

Strong knowledge of CDS, RAP, OData, SQL on HANA, performance optimization.

Proficiency in Eclipse / ADT, ATC, transport management, Fiori elements.

Desirable

Exposure to gCTS, Git, CI / CD pipelines.

Familiarity with BTP ABAP, event-driven integration, security (auth checks, DCL).

Experience with output management and legacy BOPF.

Deliverables

RAP services, CDS models, Fiori element apps, enhancement implementations.

Test reports, performance baselines, release documentation.

Success Measures

ATC compliance, defect density, performance benchmarks.

Readiness for upgrades and adoption of reusable services.

Soft Skills

Strong communication and collaboration in virtual teams.

Ability to explain technical concepts to less experienced colleagues.
