Role : Senior Manager / Head – Fabric Sourcing & Quality

Location : Mumbai (Head Office)

Reports To : Founder

Team : Fabric Merchandiser, Fabric QC

Role Objective :

To lead Knya's end-to-end fabric sourcing, vendor management, and fabric quality operations across Classic, Ecoflex, and Ecoflex Lite fabrics. The role is responsible for ensuring timely fabric availability, maintaining consistent quality, driving cost efficiency, and developing new fabrics aligned with product innovation and scale goals.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Fabric Sourcing & Vendor Management

  • Manage and negotiate with 6+ existing mills across India for consistent supply of core fabrics (Classic, Ecoflex, Ecoflex Lite).
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new mills for fabric innovation and capacity expansion.
  • Ensure all sourcing follows Knya's quality, lead time, and sustainability standards.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, lead times, and minimum order quantities (MOQs).

2. Fabric Planning & Inventory Control

  • Build monthly and quarterly fabric sourcing plans based on production forecasts and sales demand.
  • Track fabric consumption and stock levels in coordination with Production and Merchandising.
  • Ensure zero stockouts of key fabrics and minimal deadstock.
  • Work with Finance and Warehouse teams for stock reconciliation and vendor payments.
  • 3. Fabric Quality & Testing

  • Supervise Fabric QC team to conduct quality checks on incoming lots (GSM, shrinkage, colorfastness, shade matching).
  • Ensure testing is done as per Knya's approved standards and documentation.
  • Lead vendor quality improvement programs and implement fabric grading systems.
  • 4. New Fabric Development

  • Collaborate with Product Development & Marketing to develop new fabrics for upcoming launches.
  • Drive trials for new blends, weaves, and finishes that enhance comfort, stretch, and durability.
  • Work closely with mills on sampling, testing, and commercial rollout.
  • 5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Production Head to ensure smooth fabric flow to cutting and stitching units.
  • Work with Procurement and Logistics teams for timely dispatches to factories.
  • Collaborate with Finance for budgeting and cost optimization.

    Experience & Qualification :

  • 8–12 years of experience in woven / knit fabric sourcing and vendor management in apparel or textile industry.
  • Strong network of mills and fabric suppliers across India.
  • Technical understanding of fabrics (GSM, composition, dyeing, finishing).
  • Experience in scaling sourcing from 1L to 10L+ meter monthly volume.
  • Degree in Textile Engineering, Fabric Technology, or Apparel Production preferred.
