About the Role

We are looking for a creative, imaginative, and detail-oriented  Children’s Book Illustrator  to join our publishing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of visual storytelling for young readers (ages 0–12), demonstrate consistency in style, and collaborate closely with editors, designers, and authors to bring characters and stories to life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and create original illustrations for children’s picture books, chapter books, activity books, and related products.
  • Develop characters, environments, and visual narratives that are engaging, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive.
  • Work closely with the editorial and design teams to understand story structure, pacing, and visual tone.
  • Prepare final artwork files for production, ensuring print quality and format specifications.
  • Create multiple illustration styles if required and experiment with new aesthetic directions based on project brief.
  • Revise and refine artwork based on editorial and creative feedback.
  • Ensure timely delivery of sketches, storyboards, final artworks, and print-ready files.

Skills & Requirements

  • 4–5 years of professional experience  as an illustrator, preferably in children’s publishing or animation / design studios.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing storytelling, character development, and a distinctive illustration style.
  • Proficiency in digital illustration tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, etc.)
  • Understanding of layout, typography involvement, and basic book production workflows.
  • Ability to maintain visual consistency across multiple pages and projects.
  • Strong communication skills, openness to critique, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Passion for children’s stories, visual learning, and creativity.

    • Nice to Have

  • Experience in creating book covers, merchandising artwork, or educational content.
  • Ability to illustrate in more than one style (playful, realistic, fantasy, minimal, etc.)
  • Familiarity with print processes and colour profiling.
