Position Overview
The Facility Manager is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and compliance of the cargo terminal facilities. This includes material handling equipment, building infrastructure, housekeeping, customer facilitation, staff transportation, and statutory authority coordination. The role ensures operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
- Manage entire building maintenance (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural systems).
- Oversee maintenance of all equipment including cargo handling systems, conveyors, forklifts, cranes, etc.
- Ensure timely renewal and compliance of Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC).
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections to minimize downtime.
Material Handling Equipment (MHE)
Monitor performance and availability of MHE.Coordinate with vendors for servicing, repairs, and spare parts.Maintain records of equipment usage, breakdowns, and service schedules.Housekeeping & Facility Services
Supervise housekeeping team to maintain hygiene and cleanliness standards.Ensure waste management and environmental compliance.Oversee pest control, landscaping, and other facility-related services.Customer & Staff Support
Facilitate smooth operations for customers and stakeholders.Manage staff transportation services ensuring punctuality, safety, and efficiency.Act as a point of contact for customer queries related to facilities.Statutory & Authority Compliance
Liaise with local authorities for building approvals, inspections, and certifications.Ensure timely tax payments and compliance with municipal regulations.Coordinate with environment department for sustainability and pollution control measures.Ensure compliance with fire department regulations, including fire safety audits and drills.Maintain documentation and records for all statutory requirements.Safety & Risk Management
Implement and monitor safety protocols across the facility.Conduct fire drills, emergency preparedness exercises, and risk assessments.Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Engineering, or related field.8–12 years of experience in facility management, preferably in cargo / logistics terminals.Strong knowledge of material handling equipment and building systems.Familiarity with statutory compliance and liaison with government authorities.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage vendors, contracts, and budgets effectively.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Uptime and reliability of material handling equipment.Compliance with statutory requirements and timely renewals.Customer satisfaction scores related to facility services.Efficiency of housekeeping and staff transportation services.Cost optimization in facility operations.
