Job Description :
A highly experienced and result-oriented Assistant General Manager - Production to lead and manage all aspects of production operations for our Electric Bus Manufacturing facility. The AGM will be responsible for ensuring production efficiency, adherence to quality standards, safety compliance, and on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee the entire production lifecycle, including body shop, paint shop, assembly line, EV systems integration, and final inspection.
- Lead end-to-end production operations for the bus body welding shop, and semi-automated welding processes.
- Manage and optimize robotic welding cells (MIG, MAG, spot welding), ensuring minimal downtime and high throughput.
- Coordinate with design and engineering teams for weldability reviews, fixture design, and robotic programming validations.
Lead and manage the trimming and interior assembly operations of electric buses as part of the main production line.
Supervise teams handling installation of electrical systems, seats, flooring, internal panels, grab rails, displays, air conditioning, and lighting.Ensure fitment quality, alignment, gap tolerances, and aesthetic finish of all interior parts.Oversee manual and automated painting processes including robotic and spray booth systems.Ensure paint quality, including film thickness, gloss level, adhesion, colour matching, and corrosion resistance.Drive continuous improvement in productivity, cycle time, paint consumption, and rework reduction.Ensure strict compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations (e.g., VOC limits, fume extraction, PPE).Key Competency :
Strong knowledge of robotic welding systems (FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, etc.).Hands-on experience with welding processes (MIG / MAG, spot, TIG), fixture design, weld symbols, and GD&T.Familiarity with automation integration, PLCs, and robotic programming tools.Deep understanding of electric bus systems, especially electrical harnessing, cabin layout, and trim & finish standards.Experience with tools and equipment used in interior fitting, electrical component mounting, and finishing processes.Hands-on experience with painting systems (airless, electrostatic, robotic) and pre -treatment processes.(ref : iimjobs.com)
