The General Manager - Supply Chain Management (Solar EPC) will lead and optimize the complete supply chain function for solar projects - covering strategic sourcing, procurement, logistics, vendor management, and inventory control.

This role demands a combination of technical understanding of solar project materials and strategic supply chain leadership, ensuring material availability, cost efficiency, and operational excellence across multiple project sites. The incumbent will also be responsible for driving digital transformation, supplier collaboration, and team capability enhancement within a high-growth renewable energy environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic & Operational Leadership :

  • Develop and implement comprehensive SCM strategies aligned with project and organizational goals.
  • Lead end-to-end procurement, logistics, and inventory operations for solar EPC projects.
  • Establish sourcing strategies for key materials solar modules, inverters, MMS, cables, and BOS components.
  • Oversee annual procurement budgets and drive cost optimization through effective negotiations and supplier collaboration.

2. Procurement & Vendor Management :

  • Manage and develop a robust supplier base (domestic and international) ensuring quality, cost, and delivery adherence.
  • Build strategic partnerships with key vendors to ensure long-term reliability and capacity alignment.
  • Review major RFQs, POs, and contracts to ensure compliance with commercial and technical standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams for specification finalization and technical validation.
  • 3. Project Coordination & Material Planning :

  • Work closely with project and construction teams to plan and schedule material requirements.
  • Ensure timely dispatch and delivery across multiple project sites with optimized logistics planning.
  • Monitor project-wise material movement and proactively mitigate supply risks or bottlenecks.
  • Drive inventory control initiatives to minimize non-moving and surplus stock.
  • 4. Team Leadership & Capability Building :

  • Lead a multidisciplinary SCM team (20+ professionals) across procurement, logistics, and warehousing.
  • Define KPIs and foster a performance-driven culture focused on accountability and process excellence.
  • Coach and develop team members to build future supply chain leadership capabilities.
  • 5. Governance, Compliance & Reporting :

  • Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies, ethical practices, and legal guidelines.
  • Strengthen ERP-based SCM systems for enhanced visibility and reporting.
  • Coordinate with finance for vendor reconciliation and timely payment cycles.
  • Present periodic SCM performance dashboards and improvement reports to management.
