Job description

Expert Database Professional

We are seeking a highly experienced expert to own the performance, availability and security of our growing fleet of databases across various platforms.

This individual will play a key role in designing scalable data architectures, ensuring high availability and supporting development teams with optimized queries and resilient data pipelines.

  • Maintain, monitor, and tune production and staging databases
  • Manage high availability, backups, restores, replication, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Ensure uptime and performance SLAs are met across cloud and hybrid environments

AWS Cloud Expertise :

  • Administer RDS, Aurora, and EC2-hosted database instances
  • Monitor database performance using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and third-party tools

    • Data Architecture & Design :

  • Work with engineering teams to model new schemas, optimize indexes, and review queries
  • Implement and enforce best practices in database normalization, partitioning, and data lifecycle management

    • Security & Compliance :

  • Ensure data encryption, access controls, and audit logging are in place and compliant with company policies
  • Support GDPR / SOC 2 / ISO 27001 initiatives with appropriate database controls and evidence collection

    • Collaboration & Mentoring :

  • Provide database guidance to developers and DevOps teams during code reviews and deployments
  • Share knowledge, mentor junior DBAs, and improve documentation and internal tooling
