Must-Have Technical Skills

Skill Area Expected Depth / Module Coverage React.js (Hooks) Deep expertise in modern functional React : useState, useEffect, useContext, useRef, useCallback, useMemo. Candidate must understand hook lifecycle, state isolation, cleanup behavior, and optimize re-renders using memoization. Should have experience writing and consuming custom hooks, working with complex component trees, and migrating from class to functional components. Redux or Context API Solid hands-on experience with Redux (createStore, reducers, useSelector, useDispatch) or Context API with custom providers. Should understand global state architecture, local reducer composition, and async side-effects. Exposure to Redux-Saga / Thunk middleware is preferred. Must have used these in live production UI flows such as auth management, cart / order flow, or notification systems. Axios (Custom Middleware) Candidate should be capable of building centralized API layers using Axios. Must be able to implement request / response interceptors for token management, error boundary triggers, retry logic, and alert hooks. Should also decouple API logic from components, managing loader state and HTTP failure edge cases. JavaScript (ES6+) Strong grasp of modern JS constructs : async / await, Promises, closures, destructuring, template literals, arrow functions, and scope rules. Must demonstrate ability to write modular reusable code, debug tricky browser runtime behaviors, and handle DOM event propagation when required. REST API Integration Should be able to consume public / private REST APIs, handle various HTTP verbs, manage pagination, handle authentication headers, and gracefully manage 4xx / 5xx responses. Must show ability to isolate API services from UI, inject via context or service layer, and support retry / backoff logic. HTML5 / CSS3 Candidate must have built responsive UIs with Flexbox, Grid, and media queries. Should know the semantic meaning of tags, accessibility best practices (alt, aria-labels, tabIndex), and CSS positioning (relative, absolute, sticky, z-index). Familiarity with layout debugging via browser dev tools is expected. Git & Agile Should have strong working knowledge of Git : feature branches, rebases, conflict resolution, pull requests. Agile experience includes participating in sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and delivering based on JIRA / Confluence workflows.

Nice-to-Have Skills

Skill Area Context & Notes React Router Familiarity with route guards, nested routing, dynamic routing. React Performance Awareness of useMemo, useCallback, preventing re-renders. Unit Testing (Jest / RTL) Team-based test writing, mocking, and snapshot testing. CSS Frameworks Experience with Bootstrap, Tailwind, or SCSS (optional). Webpack / Node.js Basic bundling, SSR understanding preferred. CI / CD Awareness General awareness of build-deploy lifecycle. Not expected to configure pipelines.
