Job Overview
Fleet Superintendents are responsible for maintaining the highest standards of vessel maintenance and adhering to international rules and regulations.
Main Responsibilities
- Monitor vessel performance, including speed, consumption, and maintenance programs;
- Plan and organize maintenance during ship's trade, minimizing disruption to commercial availability;
- Supervise the shipboard working organization in close cooperation with Masters and Chief Engineers;
- Manage spare parts and stores availability and requests from vessels;
- Conduct regular inspections of vessels;
- Process damage claims, including stevedores damages, in cooperation with the legal department;
- Follow up on defect reports and guarantee claims in a timely manner;
- Review vessel monthly reports.
Additional Duties
Prepare dry-docking specifications;Evaluate tender documents;Prepare documents relating to docking (DAI, EDD);Support the dry dock manager during the dry-dock;Assist the dry dock manager during dry dock.Financial Management
Develop vessel budgets;Approve orders and invoices up to authorized limits;Monitor operating costs of vessels to ensure expenses are within budget.Crew Support
Manage crew overtime in accordance with company policies;Monitor rest and work hours, implementing improvements as needed;Appraise senior officers;Notify the Marine Human Resources Department of any issues detected.Certifications and Inspections
Plan safety inspections, statutory surveys, and classification surveys to maintain validity of certificates;Notify classification societies, flag administrations, or relevant authorities of deficiencies arising on vessels.
