Position Title : Software Engineering Lead, Distribution Center Technology

- We are seeking a Software Engineering Lead to join our Supply Chain Integrations team—driving high-quality, resilient solutions that connect critical internal Abercrombie systems, 3rd party partners, and processes. You will lead a small team of engineers while championing a test-driven development mindset, scalable engineering practices, and operational excellence.
What will you be doing?
As a Software Engineering Lead, you will :
Lead and mentor a team of 1–4 software engineers in the design, development, testing, and deployment of supply chain integration solutions.Partner with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to design automated testing strategies early in the development lifecycle.Advocate for and implement Test-Driven Development (TDD) , behavior-driven approaches, and modern testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Playwright, Cucumber ).In early phases of role, manually test software in order to learn how to appropriately automate the testingDrive adoption of observability tools —including application monitoring, logging, and session replay—to proactively identify and resolve issues in production.Ensure solutions meet high standards of scalability, performance, and maintainability, with a relentless focus on “unbreakable” quality.Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure integrations are reliable, well-documented, and optimized for retail supply chain needs.Oversee code reviews, technical design discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives within the team.Promote engineering excellence, software craftsmanship, and streamlined SDLC practices across the organization.What will you need to bring?
Required Skills & Experience :
6-9 years in Java software engineering roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership or team lead capacity .4+ years working with Spring Framework / Spring Boot2+ years working hands on with Kafka (Building producers, consumers, etc.)Proven track record designing and delivering complex integration solutions in high-volume, high-availability environments.Strong experience with TDD, BDD, and automated testing strategies .Hands-on expertise with testing frameworks such as JUnit, Playwright, and Cucumber .Familiarity with observability platforms (e.g., New Relic, Datadog, Dynatrace) and logging tools (e.g., Splunk, ELK stack).Experience mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of continuous learning and quality improvement.Excellent collaboration and communication skills—able to partner effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Experienced working in Agile software development lifecycleExperience writing / running / interpreting results of performance testing frameworks (k6, neoLoad)Preferred Skills & Experience :
Retail and / or supply chain industry experience requiredExperience working in a GCCKnowledge of enterprise integration patterns, APIs, and message-driven architectures.Exposure to cloud-relevant technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Terraform, Azure, Git, build pipelines).
