Job Summary
The Construction Manager oversees high-paced DAS and BTS projects. Responsibilities include coordinating job plans, scheduling assignments, managing materials logistics, crews, and tools to complete projects on time and within expectations.
- Reports to the Operations Manager and leads teams remotely at a project site.
- Expertise in DAS, Small Cell, RF cabling, fiber optic installations, and related infrastructure.
- Experience working in venues such as hospitals, commercial buildings, stadiums, airports, and campuses.
- Coordinates, implements, and completes multiple projects simultaneously.
- Installs communication equipment including iDAS, oDAS, BTS, repeater systems, and other technologies.
- Solves problems and develops solutions on-site to ensure project progress.
- Familiarity with RF tools (e.g., iBwave, RF Vision, PIM / Sweep testers).
- Demonstrates expertise in at least one DAS proficiency (cabling, fiber, BTS / HE, conduit / electrical).
- Knowledge of test equipment including PIM testing, sweep analyzers, circuits, OTDR, and signal generating sets.
- Troubleshoots issues, handles trouble tickets, alarms, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborates with others to locate and correct malfunctions.
- Conducts daily safety meetings, JSA's, tool box meetings, and ensures a safe working environment for crews.
- Prepares and distributes regular performance and status reports.
- Manages materials, conducts site surveys, quality checks, and job audits.
- Provides customer support, interfaces with the customer, guides problem resolution, ensures timely customer service, and maintains strong customer relations.
- Awareness of Environmental, Health & Safety policies and adheres to them.
Requirements
10+ years of DAS Construction management experience with in-building distributed antenna systems (IDAS).Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent experience in a similar technical management position.Extensive relevant technical experience, including knowledge of iDAS, oDAS, BTS, repeater systems, and other related systems.Familiarity with business concepts related to information technologies and networking in all aspects of business and organizational operations.Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.Good judgment.Organizational skills.Knowledge of the Telecommunications industry.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Current industry-related licenses and certifications preferred.Hands-on installation / construction experience required.PIM – Passive InterModulation Testing and Troubleshooting with Kaelus or similar.Fiber – Corning Certification preferred – Ability to train others how to install, splice, and test fiber optic cable including OTDR review from EXFO, Fluke, VIAVI or similar.Coax Cable Connections – Ability to train and mentor others on proper techniques for coax cable connectorization. Experience with JMA Compression Connectors preferred.Electrical Knowledge – Basic knowledge of electrical code and Low Voltage and High Voltage power designs including breakers, power meters, etc. to manage subcontractors.Passing a drug test and background screening (no misdemeanor or felony convictions) is required.A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and a minimum of 1 year of driving experience.Ability to use MS Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) for reporting.OSHA10 Certification Required, OSHA30 strongly preferred.
