Job Title : Customer Service – Freight Forwarding

Location : Chennai

Job Type : Full-Time - Onsite

Experience : 3-6 years

Key Responsibilities :

  • Act as the main liaison between customers and internal departments (operations, documentation, sales, etc.)
  • Handle inquiries related to shipments, rates, schedules, and documentation via phone, email, or in-person.
  • Coordinate with carriers, customs brokers, warehouses, and other service providers to ensure timely and accurate movement of cargo.
  • Monitor and track shipments; proactively communicate updates or delays to clients.
  • Resolve customer complaints, service issues, or disputes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage and maintain customer files and shipment records in internal systems (e.g., CargoWise, SAP, etc.)
  • Provide quotes and follow up on sales leads in coordination with the sales team.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with relevant import / export regulations.
  • Support billing and invoicing processes by verifying charges and resolving discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service levels or customer satisfaction.

Requirements :

  • Education : High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience : Minimum 2 years of customer service experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or international shipping.
  • Knowledge : Understanding of Incoterms, air and ocean freight procedures, import / export documentation, and customs regulations.
  • Skills :

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Experience with freight forwarding software (e.g., CargoWise, Descartes, etc.) is a plus.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Familiarity with global trade compliance and customs brokerage procedures.
  • Ability to communicate in multiple languages is a plus.
