Role Overview
As a Data & AI Engineer, you’ll lead the design and implementation of Kaitongo’s data infrastructure and AI pipelines.
You’ll work closely with the backend (Python / Django), frontend (React), and leadership teams to define how data is ingested, structured, processed, and transformed into AI-driven insights.
You’ll also review and approve PRs, set coding standards, and own the evolution of Kaitongo’s data and model architecture.
Key Responsibilities
AI / GenAI Systems
- Develop and manage RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines using vector databases (Weaviate, OpenAI, etc.).
- Optimize LLM workflows and agents — including prompt chains, context retrieval, fine-tuning, and caching.
- Collaborate with backend and product teams to productionize GenAI capabilities.
Data Architecture & Infrastructure
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses.Integrate diverse data sources (internal systems, external APIs, structured and unstructured).Implement data models that support analytics, ML, and LLM-based features.DataOps & MLOps
Establish CI / CD, model versioning, and data validation workflows.Implement observability and quality checks across data and model pipelines.Work with APIs (OpenAI, others) and cloud-native AI services.Technical Leadership
Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and enforce engineering best practices.Collaborate with leadership on architectural decisions and scalability strategies.Participate in product ideation — bringing technical insight to business challenges.Qualifications
3+ years of experience in data engineering, backend, or AI / ML infrastructure roles.Strong hands-on experience with Python, SQL, Django / FastAPI, and ETL frameworks.Proven experience with data warehouses and data lakes (preferably Azure Data Lake).Deep understanding of LLM pipelines, vector databases, and embedding-based retrieval.Exposure to the OpenAI ecosystem, agentic applications, and frameworks such as LangChain.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure) and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).Strong grasp of data governance, security, and performance optimization.Bachelor’s / Master’s in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related fields.Why Join Kaitongo
