Role Overview :
As a Developer Experience Engineer, you will play a critical role in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our software Engineering community, establishing, and developing culture, processes, and standards around engineering excellence. You will be responsible for ensuring that the platforms being purchased / built / maintained are fit for purpose and easy for our product engineering teams to use / adopt.
Developer Experience Platforms is part of the Enterprise Platform (EP) group and is responsible for supporting and running our standard platforms efficiently and effectively. You will collaborate closely with other functions within EP (Application SRE, Quality Engineering and Developer Experience) to provide robust, integrated and best-in-class solutions for our product engineering teams. And build strong working relationships with the software engineering community across Broadridge.
Key Responsibilities :
- Building Developer-Centric Culture : Cultivate a developer-friendly culture that emphasizes continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation.
- Improving Development Processes : Streamline development workflows, implement best practices, and remove bottlenecks to optimize the developer's journey from code creation to deployment.
- Tools and Infrastructure Management : Evaluate, select, and manage tools, frameworks, and infrastructure that empower developers to build, test, and deploy software efficiently.
- Training and Development : Implement training programs, mentorship initiatives, and knowledge-sharing platforms to upskill developers and foster career growth.
- Developer Advocacy : Advocate for developers' needs and represent their interests in decision-making processes to ensure a developer-centric approach across the organization.
- Continuous Feedback Loop : Establish mechanisms for continuous feedback collection from developers to identify pain points, gather insights, and drive continuous improvement in developer experience.
- Community Building : Foster a sense of community among developers through meetups, hackathons, tech talks, and other initiatives that promote knowledge-sharing and networking.
- Monitoring and Metrics : Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure developer satisfaction, productivity, and engagement, and use data-driven insights to drive improvements.
- Embedding AI : Leveraging AI and AI-based tools to improve the Efficiency and Effectiveness of developers, and enhancing productivity across the SDLC
- Vendor Management : Manage relationships with external vendors, tool providers, and service partners to ensure alignment with developer experience objectives and standards.
- Stay Current with Industry Trends : Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in developer experience to stay innovative and competitive.
- Platform Utilization : Ensuring that Broadridge Enterprise Platforms are fit for purpose and easy to use / adopt.
- Internal Developer Platform (IDP) : Build, develop and maintain an IDP to ensure that tools, processes, standards, patterns and practices are discoverable and available for our software engineering community.
- Inner-Sourcing : Establish an operating model and framework for an inner-sourcing model around Broadridge Enterprise Platforms.
Skills and Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.3+ years of experience in Software EngineeringTechnical Background : A solid foundation in software development and experience in coding, testing, and deploying applications is essential to understand developers' challenges and requirements.Developer Advocacy : Strong empathy for developers' needs and challenges, with a track record of advocating for and championing developer-centric practices within organizations.Strategic Thinker : Ability to formulate a clear developer experience strategy aligned with business goals and industry best practices, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate vision, priorities, and initiatives to developers, cross-functional teams, and senior leadership.Collaboration and Influence : Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, build consensus, and influence decision-making processes to drive developer experience improvements.User Experience (UX) Design : Understanding of UX principles and methodologies to design intuitive and user-friendly developer tools, interfaces, and processes.Data-Driven Decision-Making : Proficiency in using data and metrics to track developer satisfaction, identify trends, and make informed decisions to enhance developer experience.Agile and DevOps Practices : Familiarity with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI / CD pipelines to streamline development workflows and improve developer productivity.Vendor Management : Experience in managing relationships with third-party vendors, tool providers, and service partners to evaluate, select, and integrate tools that enhance developer experience.Continuous Learning : Commitment to staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to developer experience to drive innovation and excellence.Problem-Solving Skills : Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing effective solutions.Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.Fluency in English is essentialContinual Improvement (Growth) mindset
