Roles & Responsibilities :
Run monthly reports from agency management system in order to prepare monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and audits
Create and maintain standard journal entry list, ensuring that the G / L is up to date and reconciled
Use loss runs and premium schedules to prepare monthly reserves entries
Assists in month-end review and ensures all transactions have been reported and entered.
Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and banking information.
Upload Income Statement from agency management system into the Annual Income Statement Excel file for all business units. Prepare monthly PowerPoint and PDF reports (formatting and data entry) for management review.
Update Key Performance Indicators on a weekly basis and send to Controller for publishing
Review billing monthly to ensure the accuracy of information and that the proper procedures are being followed
Assist in the streamlining of processes and procedures
Develops and maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting principles and practices.
Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned
Education and / or Training :
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, pivot tables, macros, and advanced formulas
Proficient in other various desktop tools including MS Office Programs (i.e. Outlook, Word etc.)
Relevant Work Experience :
2+ Years of financial or accounting experience
Insurance industry experience preferred, particularly captive insurance
Understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping software required
Knowledge of work processes and tools is generally limited to own area of responsibility
Planning / Organizing / Managerial Knowledge :
Knowledge of general financial accounting
Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
Effectively manages time and consistently meets deadlines with limited guidance
Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and effectiveness in work
