About the Role : We are looking for passionate student developers to join us as Open Source Mentor Interns . In this role, you will mentor and guide peers in contributing to open-source projects, support community engagement, and help students prepare for international open-source programs such as Google Summer of Code (GSoC).
This opportunity is open to 3rd and 4th-year undergraduate students across India who have a proven track record in open source.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor junior contributors in making meaningful open-source contributions.
- Conduct workshops, code reviews, and support sessions to help students navigate open-source projects.
- Share best practices on code quality, contribution guidelines, and open-source workflows (Git / GitHub, PR reviews, etc.).
- Collaborate with core teams to build a strong open-source culture within the student community.
- Support organization-wide initiatives like Hacktoberfest, GSoC prep, Outreachy, and community projects.
Requirements
Past selection in Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is mandatory.Strong technical background in software development (C++, Java, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent).Familiarity with Git, GitHub, Linux, and standard open-source workflows.Strong communication skills to mentor and engage with peers.Available for a 3-6 month internship (remote).Preferred (Not Mandatory)Experience in community leadership, mentoring, or student clubs.Contributions to multiple open-source projects beyond GSoC.Skills Required
