Brokerage Compliance Responsibilities
1. Carrier Vetting & Document Verification :
- Verify all carrier documents before onboarding.
- Check carrier history on Truckstop, MyCarrierPackets, and SaferWeb.
- Ensure carriers meet all FMCSA compliance requirements.
2. Insurance Compliance :
Monitor carrier insurance policies and check expiration dates.Verify minimum liability and cargo insurance coverage before approving carriers.3. Authority & Safety Checks :
Verify carrier's DOT number, MC authority status, and granted date.Review SMS (Safety Measurement System) scores for compliance and risk assessment.4. Document Management & Approval :
Upload documents from MyCarrierPackets or approval emails to Alvys.Maintain up-to-date records for all carriers in the system.Ensure signed rate confirmations are correctly documented.5. Load Booking Approvals :
Approve loads for dispatchers after verifying carrier compliance.Ensure all necessary documents are received before confirming a load.6. Customer Credit & Approval Checks :
Review CreditSafe and Truckstop ratings before approving a new customer.Ensure customers meet minimum credit requirements to prevent financial risks.7. Claims & Issue Resolution :
Handle minor cargo claims and settlements with carriers.Communicate with insurance providers for claim processing.Carrier Compliance Responsibilities :
1. Regulatory Compliance :
Ensure compliance with UCR (Unified Carrier Registration), IFTA (International Fuel Tax Agreement), and IRP (International Registration Plan).Maintain proper records and filings to avoid penalties.2. Driver Onboarding & Employment Verification :
Conduct background checks and employment verification for new drivers.Verify CDL, medical certifications, and drug test results before hiring.3. Fleet Documentation & Maintenance Compliance :
Manage truck and trailer registrations, inspections, and maintenance records.Ensure all vehicles meet DOT compliance and safety regulations.4. Insurance Management :
Monitor insurance policies for both brokerage and carriers.Track policy expiration dates and ensure continuous coverage.5. Drug & Alcohol Testing :
Administer pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug testing as per DOT regulations.Maintain compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) drug and alcohol policies.6. Safety & Compliance Audits :
Conduct regular safety audits and check CSA (Compliance, Safety, Accountability) scores.Ensure carriers meet FMCSA and DOT safety standards.7. HOS (Hours of Service) Compliance :
Monitor electronic logging device (ELD) compliance.Ensure drivers are following HOS regulations to avoid violations.8. Claims & Incident Reporting :
Handle minor accident claims and settlement processes.Report incidents to insurance providers and regulatory authorities when requiredRequirements
Strong knowledge of UCR, IFTA, IRP, FMCSA regulations.
Experience in logistics compliance ( brokerage and carrier ).
Proficiency with compliance tools such as Truckstop, MyCarrierPackets, SaferWeb, Alvys.
Understanding of DOT regulations and Hours of Service (HOS) requirements.
Excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to handle insurance claims and coordinate with carriers and providers.
