Senior Data Engineer

About the Role

We’re seeking a highly skilled and autonomous Senior Data Engineer with strong experience in Power BI implementations to join our new data and analytics team. This role is critical to the development and enhancement of our dimensional data models, supporting key financial reporting and analytics across the business.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders to understand complex financial concepts and translate them into scalable, performant data models. You’ll also play a hands-on role in building and maintaining our data pipelines and warehouse infrastructure on Microsoft Fabric.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop dimensional data models to support financial reporting and broader analytics.
• Build and maintain robust data pipelines using SQL, Python, and dbt.
• Work with Microsoft Fabric OneLake and related technologies.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand financial concepts and translate them into technical solutions.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and performance across the warehouse.
• Operate with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and best practices for data warehousing.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in data warehousing and dimensional modelling, ideally within financial services.
• Strong proficiency in SQL , Python and PowerBI .
• Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics , Databricks and / or Microsoft Fabric , or equivalent analytics technologies.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex problems.
• Strong understanding of financial concepts and how they translate into data models.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
