Transforming Mental Health Support

At Yuna, we're tackling the pressing issue of mental health care accessibility. With waiting times often exceeding 48 days, it's clear that something needs to change. That's where you come in – as a crucial part of our team, you'll be instrumental in shaping the future of mental health technology.

Position Overview

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll be at the heart of Yuna's conversational stack. Your responsibilities will include designing, building, and operating services for conversation state, user memory, retrieval, and tool integrations (REST / gRPC). You'll work closely with clinical psychologists to ensure the efficacy of our conversational AI.

Responsibilities

  • Develop scalable backend systems for conversation management, integrating with various tools and APIs.
  • Collaborate with front-end teams for API creation, testing, and implementation.
  • Implement alignment & safety layers tuned to clinical guidelines, ensuring seamless communication between users and AI agents.
  • Optimize system performance for latency, cost, and quality, utilizing your expertise in cloud infrastructure and relational databases.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to enhance Yuna's AI systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in developing production-ready backend systems using languages like Go, Python, or NodeJS.
  • Hands-on experience with AI agents, RAG pipelines, and LLMs, enabling seamless integration with our conversational AI.
  • Strong cloud infrastructure expertise, particularly with Google Cloud Platform.
  • Proficiency in relational databases, search systems, and real-time communication protocols.
  • Knowledge of Swift for iOS client integration is a plus.
