Principal, Data Science - R&D

Alcon is looking for scientist with a strong background in Generative AI, who aspire to be part of a Data Science & AI function in R&D.Alcon is at the forefront of new medical device innovation that focuses on leveraging cutting-edge AI-driven solutions.As we continue to push the boundaries of product development, we are seeking a Senior Data Scientist with expertise in generative AI to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement next-generation AI models that power our products.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist with a strong background in generative AI, particularly in working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Large Multi-Modal (LMM) AI systems (combining both text and image data). You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and supporting the AI models that drive the development of new medical device products. Your expertise will also help improve existing product features and capabilities by integrating advanced AI techniques, particularly in cloud environments like AWS and Azure.This is an ideal opportunity for individuals with a passion for applying AI / ML in the health-care sector.

Preferred Job Requirements :

• Bachelors, M.S. (preferred) or Ph.D. (preferred) in Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Optics, or related quantitative fields.
• Lead the design and development of generative AI models for new product development, particularly leveraging LLM and LMM AI models.
• Proven experience in applying generative AI, LLMs, and multi-modal models to solve real-world problems in the medical device industry or equivalent industry and / or academic experience.
• Demonstrable expertise in algorithm development, including, coding, algorithm testing, algorithm validation, and software development for Medical Device.
• Utilize tools such as AWS Bedrock, Azure AI Studio, and other cloud-based platforms to deploy, manage, and optimize AI models.
• Apply advanced data science techniques, including natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, and machine learning, to solve complex problems and enhance product functionality.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams is highly desirable.
