Buying & Merchandising
- Identify, source, and finalize products across beauty categories aligned to customer needs and value retail positioning.
- Develop and maintain a strong vendor base, including local suppliers, regional manufacturers, and private-label partners.
- Negotiate cost prices, margins, credit terms, and supply agreements to achieve category profitability targets.
- Plan and execute seasonal / ongoing assortments, focusing on fast-moving SKUs and value packs.
- Monitor competitor activity, pricing, and assortment strategies to maintain competitiveness.
Business Planning & Analysis
Prepare annual category budgets, sales forecasts, and assortment plans.Track category sales performance, sell-through, margins, and stock turn ratios.Optimize assortment based on customer demand, regional preferences, and store formats.Work closely with supply chain and warehouse teams to ensure timely replenishment and availability.Category Development
Identify trends in the Indian beauty market and adapt them to the value retail consumer segment.Collaborate with marketing for category promotions, offers, and in-store activations.Drive private label development in beauty and personal care, ensuring cost advantage and differentiation.Cross-functional Collaboration
Work with Visual Merchandising for effective in-store presentation.Coordinate with Quality Assurance to ensure products meet safety and regulatory standards.Partner with Finance for cost control and margin analysis.Key Skills & Competencies :
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.Analytical ability to interpret sales, pricing, and consumer data.Knowledge of beauty and personal care product categories, trends, and compliance.Understanding of value retail customer buying behavior.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to balance cost-effectiveness with product appeal.Qualifications & Experience :
Graduate / Postgraduate in Business, Retail Management / Fashion Management.
5–8 years of experience in buying / merchandising, preferably in beauty, personal care, or FMCG.
Experience in value retail / discount retail / mass retail formats is preferred.
Exposure to private label sourcing and development is an added advantage.
