About the Role :
Looking for a Data Product Manager (DPM) to lead the development and management of data-driven products that empower teams across the organization.
These may include data platforms, analytics tools, dashboards, machine learning models, or APIs that expose data to internal teams or customers.
In this role, you will act as the bridge between data and business; translating business challenges into data opportunities, defining the roadmap for data products, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to turn raw data into actionable insights and scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities :
Understand Business Needs (Product Thinking)
- Partner with stakeholders across marketing, operations, engineering, and leadership to identify opportunities to use data to solve problems or create value.
- Translate business questions into actionable data problems and solutions.
- Prioritize data products based on impact, feasibility, and alignment with business goals.
Define Data Product Requirements :
Develop clear product requirements and user stories specifying :1. What data should be collected or used
2. What insights or outputs are expected
3. How the product should be consumed (e.g., UI, API, dashboard)
Collaborate with Data Teams
Work closely with Data Engineers to define data pipelines and architecture.Partner with Data Scientists to develop and productionize models or algorithms.Collaborate with Analysts to validate and interpret outputs.Own the Data Product Lifecycle :
Manage the roadmap, backlog, and releases of data products.Ensure data quality, reliability, and user adoption across products.Monitor performance, identify improvements, and drive continuous optimization.Be the Bridge Between Data and Business :
Explain complex data concepts in simple, business-relevant terms.Advocate for data best practices, data governance, and literacy.Champion a data-first culture across the organization.Example Projects You Might Own

3+ years of experience in product management, data analytics, or data science rolesProven ability to define and ship data or analytics productsStrong understanding of data concepts (e.g., SQL, data modeling, ETL, APIs, BI tools)Experience working with data engineering and analytics teams in an Agile environmentExcellent communication skills, especially translating between technical and business stakeholdersAbility to manage competing priorities and drive consensus in cross-functional teamsPreferred Qualifications :
Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, AWS, GCP)Exposure to machine learning or AI productsBackground in statistics or data scienceFamiliarity with tools like Looker, Tableau, dbt, Airflow, or similar(ref : hirist.tech)
